XB KEY FEATURES

From the front of the vehicle and working back here are some of the key features in restoring your XB Ford Falcon back to its original condition. This information may also help you to identify an original XB GT. I have obtained this information from a number of sources including inspecting many XB’s, I am in no way an expert. If there are any errors please contact me and I will amend the details. I have not including any specifications on the running gear as this is widely available.

Headlights:

Standard single quartz halogen headlights supplied as either 'Stanley' or 'Lucas'

GT and GS Models fitted with 2 driving lights fitted as 'Hella' part no. 002.10274.

Option 56 for GS fitted with driving lights and grille.

Dealer fitted steel chrome mesh headlight protectors.

Dealer fitted vinyl driving light covers.

Grill, factory moulded satin/flat black and Argent grey. Other painted colours available;  brown, green,walnut glow or 

white for the John Goss special.

Passenger side of grille fitted with Falcon, Futura, Fairmont or GT badge.

Dealer option grille mounted insect screen.

Chrome front bumper bar for Falcon 500 or Fairmont and GS models.

Colour matched front bumper for GT models or chrome for protection pack option.

Option 04 Protection pack including chrome front and rear bumpers, front and rear bumper over-riders and full length body moulding with vinyl insert. These factory body mouldings were fitted onto small steel lugs fixed to the panels and were not the self adhesive ones. On the inside of the door you will also find a small nut holding the end of the mould on. Option 07 Heavy duty outback pack; Heavy duty shocks/door seals, sump, transmission and fuel tank guards, heavy duty air filter, shock guard plates.  Rare, early XB's which had protection pack included driving lights, large mud  flaps , larger washer bottle and  insect screen.

Rubber body protection moulding available from dealership.

Available in following vinyl colours;

Black, silver, light blue, dark blue, light green, dark green, gold, tan, brown, red,

wood grain and parchment.

 XB GS fitted with thick decal strips located on each side of the vehicle commencing .25 in from the front nose and running centrally along the vehicle and finishing 6.4 in from the rear end with 'GS'.

XB John Goss coupe decals available as reflective or non reflective orange strip and ‘302’ decal on front guards.

 Front number plate frame as dealership option.

Front plastic spoiler for the GT dealership option.

Nasa bonnet scoops  Bonnet – either standard bonnet with 32 oval holes light weight or heavy weight with 25 oval holes.
All models fitted with cast chrome plated letters located on bonnet F.O.R.D.

GT and GS and John Goss bonnet fitted with twin NASA hood air scoops.

GT and GS available with option 55 painted ‘black-out’ or delete option.

Hood locking pin set fitted to GT, GS and John Goss models.

 Light weight bonnet 32 oval holes.

Sports mirrors - standard XB fitted with driver’s side door mounted mirror with the passenger side available as option.

External mirrors available as either standard non remote or remote on driver's side.

GT received driver’s remote mirror as standard.

 

Windscreen – standard non-laminated.

Laminated tinted top band option 11.

Trico wiper arms with standard or anti lift available.

Factory tinted windows standard with factory 'Selectaire' air-conditioning.

Option 87 tinted side/rear windows available for dealer fitted air conditioning.

Perspex weather shields available for left and right doors, vented or ventless.

Ľ vent front windows available option 86  and most  Taxis and police vehicles.

Exterior fitted sun visor available in either steel primed, mesh, black, beige, brown vinyl

 

Front guards - GT model no badges only 'GT 351' decals fitted on either guard located to the rear of the front wheels.

(Black, silver or walnut etc)

John Goss same as GT no badges only orange ‘302’ decal.

Other models fitted with either of the following cast badges forward of the front wheels:

'250' '351' V8

Following cast badges fitted to the rear of the front wheels, 'Falcon 500', Futura or Fairmont.

Fairmont, GT, and John Goss fitted with stainless steel wheel arch trims.

You will also find that the tops of guard where it bolts onto the inner wheel arch have either a flat or channel section.

Wheels standards and options fitted with Rim sizes 5 JJ and 6 JJ.

 # Ford Factory ROH steel welded 12 slot wheels painted Argent grey. Size 6 inch x 14  inch.
 # Ford Factory Aluminum alloy ROH sports road wheels. Size 6 inch x 14 inch.  
     Dates only  visible when tyre removed.    
 # Ford Factory Globe road wheels Size 7 inch x 15 inch.  Date codes on rear center spokes.
 # Standard rim fitted with standard hub cap, available with stainless steel dress rim  
 #  Fairmont hub cap.
 #  Plain center cap also available with standard and GS.

 Dealership option front and rear mud flap kit.
